Preventing Sagging in Your Pool Cover

Preventing Sagging in Your Pool Cover

Here is how you can prevent sagging in your pool cover.

For people who have swimming pools, you likely aren’t using yours during this time of year. During winter, people tend to stay out of their swimming pools, and wait until the weather warms up. Until then, however, people tend to use a pool cover to stop debris from getting into the pool. This cover, unfortunately, can end up sagging if you don’t take the right precautions. Here is how you can prevent sagging in your pool cover.

Make Sure You Have Sufficient Pool Drainage

One reason your pool cover might sag is because there’s standing water that’s resting on top of it. You don’t want water weighing down your pool cover. As such, you want to have sufficient drainage measures in place to redirect this water elsewhere.

Use a Leaf Blower for Any Leaves On Your Pool Cover

Water isn’t the only thing that can weigh a pool cover down; you also have to worry about leaves that fall onto it. When leaves do fall on your pool cover, you can take a leaf blower and get the leaves moved somewhere else to relieve your cover of unnecessary weight. Just make sure your leaf blower isn’t set to a high power setting. Otherwise, you could inadvertently damage your cover while blowing leaves away.

Check on Your Pool Cover Periodically

To take care of your pool cover, it’s always good to inspect it frequently. This is especially true after any inclement weather has come your way. By checking on your cover often, you can identify any problems it may have more quickly. This not only prevents sagging, but it can also raise the lifespan of your cover as a whole.
