Mistakes People Can Make When Using a Swim Spa

Mistakes People Can Make When Using a Swim Spa

Here are mistakes you’ll want to avoid whenever you’re using your swim spa.

A swim spa can be an amazing investment for your home, and you can get many years of enjoyment out of it when using it properly. With that said, there are mistakes that people could make with their swim spas that could stop them from getting as much enjoyment from them. Here are mistakes you’ll want to avoid whenever you’re using your swim spa.

Not Showering Before Getting Into the Water

While you may feel tempted to jump straight into your swim spa after a stressful day, it’s best that you take a brief shower before you get into the water. By doing this, you can remove things like make-up, deodorant, and hair products that would otherwise get into your swim spa’s water supply. You don’t want these products to affect the water quality of your swim spa, so it’s best to shower ahead of time so that you don’t introduce these products into your swim spa at all.

Not Wearing a Swim Cap

If you plan to put your head under the water, you’ll want to wear a swim cap. As time passes, it’s possible for hair to get sucked up, which can eventually clog up the filter of your swim spa. When the filter is clogged, your pumps will be put under extra stress, increasing the chance of a malfunction occurring.

Not Having the Right Temperature

To keep your swim spa as healthy as possible, you’ll want to keep it at the right temperature. If the spa is kept too cold when you’re not using it, the internal components can get damaged. If the spa is kept too hot, though, bacteria will have an easier time developing.

If you’re doing exercises, your water should be kept around 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit. If you’re just relaxing, either by yourself or with family, the water should be around 82-86 degrees Fahrenheit instead. Perhaps, if you’re going to have a therapeutic soak, you could raise the temperature up to 96-98 degrees Fahrenheit. When you keep the water at higher temperatures, you should not be in the water for more than 15 minutes at a time, especially if you start dealing with heart problems.
